“Why not just jump into Carnivore?”
Normally, I’d agree. Why wait? But testimony after testimony confirm that suddenly changing your diet to Carnivore can cause some unfortunate issues. Some of the issues:
- Oxalate dumping – The body ridding itself rapidly of stored oxalates, found in some fruits, nuts, beans and veggies.
- Problems on the backend – constipation or diarrhea
- Withdrawals from sugar and/or gluten (wheat)
The issue I’m most concerned about is addiction withdrawal from sugar, and maybe gluten. Just looking around in every restaurant, every commercial, in our cabinets or grocery aisles, the most common ingredients in many recipes are sugars and wheat. I’ve even found wheat in Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. WHY is there WHEAT in my ice cream????
For the month of December, I gave up gluten. I had my last gluten item on Dec. 5th, and the meal was predictably my all-time favorite….pizza. Pizza has been a lifelong love, but for Carnivore, I say goodbye to wheat crusts. See this video from Steak and Butter Gal for a Carnivore pizza recipe:
Update – What actually happened?
- From January to February, I’ve been eating gluten and sugar. I did NOT observe the weaning off of these items at all. I allowed all of it, but not every day and not both daily.
- Does that mean I’m not following through on the Carnivore diet? This means absolutely nothing…. I will officially start the Carnivore diet on March 1st.
- March 1st – Follow along for my daily meals, and any struggles or successes that I experience! I’m very excited to see what happens.
Just a reminder: God is one prayer away, and He is not far from us when we call out to Him. If you are struggling with anything, from mindset to health to finances, please call out to God for His wisdom. God is good to those who love Him and follows His ways.
